Custom Product Solutions
At Vandal Stop, we know that one size doesn't always fit all. That’s why we offer flexible options for product customization as well as full custom product development for more complex needs. Whether you’re adjusting the dimensions of a toilet paper dispenser or designing a brand-new enclosure, we’re here to help you find the right fit.
Product Customization Requests
If you love one of our core products but need slight adjustments to better fit your facility, we offer product customization services. This includes changes to dimensions, mounting options, security features, or additional hardware.
Each customization request is reviewed on a case-by-case basis by our engineering team:
- If the modification has broader customer value: We may elect to absorb the cost of the design changes at no charge to you.
- If the change is highly specific: You will be billed for the design time at our standard $50/hour rate, with payment due before work begins.
Note: Since these changes are based on our existing products, all design rights remain the property of Vandal Stop, even if the customer pays for customization work.
To request a customization, email us with the product name, details of your requested modification, and any supporting sketches or measurements. We’ll evaluate the scope of work and provide a quote if applicable.
Custom Product Development
When your needs go beyond modifying an existing item, we offer full-service product development. This is ideal for clients who require a completely new product to solve a unique challenge.
1. Initial Consultation & Design Deposit
We require a non-refundable $200 deposit to begin. This covers the first 4 hours of development work at a rate of $50/hour. We bill in 1-hour increments, and any additional time needed will be quoted and must be prepaid before continuing.
2. Submit Your Concept
Once your deposit is received, we’ll ask you to provide:
- A detailed description of the product you need
- Any relevant sketches, photos, or reference materials
- Functional requirements or constraints (size, location, etc.)
3. Memorandum of Agreement (MOA)
We will prepare a Memorandum of Agreement outlining:
- Product concept and usage goals
- Overall size, material, and feature requirements
- What’s included in the initial 4 hours of development
You must sign the MOA before we begin CAD or engineering design work. Any requested changes afterward will require an updated MOA and signed approval.
4. Design Development & Revisions
We’ll present you with design concepts based on your requirements. If revisions are needed, we’ll estimate the time involved. Work will not continue until additional development time is paid for in advance.
5. Prototype or Production Quote
After the design is finalized, you can choose to:
- Order a Prototype: Quoted at our Prototyping Rate for low-volume, one-off builds.
- Order in Quantity: We will evaluate whether your order qualifies for Production Pricing.
Design Ownership & Rights
Customized Vandal Stop Products
When you request changes to one of our existing products, the design remains the sole property of Vandal Stop. Even if you pay for the customization, it is a derivative of our core product line and we retain all rights.
Customer-Owned Designs
If we create a new product based on your concept — and it's not intended for resale by Vandal Stop — you will own the design once all invoices are paid in full. You are free to take the design elsewhere or contract us to manufacture it.
Shared Use Projects
If your idea aligns with the needs of our broader customer base, and you’re open to collaboration, we may choose to absorb the development cost and retain ownership of the design. This is only offered in mutually beneficial cases where the product has widespread application.
Non-Payment Clause
If development invoices are not paid in full within a reasonable time, Vandal Stop reserves the right to retain the design and claim ownership. Unpaid work becomes the intellectual property of Vandal Stop.
